March Madness 2014: Schedule for NCAA Tournament First Four games

The First Four got underway on Tuesday, marking the official start of the NCAA Tournament. Here’s the complete schedule for Wednesday.

SB Nation 2014 NCAA March Madness Coverage

The 2014 NCAA Tournament continues on Wednesday with the final slate of First Four games, featuring one improbable Cinderella run and a game between two teams that thought they would be seeded much higher than this.

The Cal Poly Mustangs were the biggest feel-good story of the conference tournaments. Despite finishing the regular season with a 10-19 record, they got hot at the best possible time, stunning UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine and Cal State Northridge to win the Big West's automatic bid and get its first tournament appearance in school history. They hope to keep the magic going against the Texas Southern Tigers, who have won their last nine games en route to the SWAC championship. Aaric Murray is the team's top scorer, and should the Tigers advance he'll be a headache for the No. 1 seed Wichita State Shockers.

The next game up promises to be the best one of the First Four. The Iowa Hawkeyes were once in the running for a protected seed, but collapsed down the stretch, losing six of their last seven games and nearly missing the tournament altogether. They face the Tennessee Volunteers, who were sitting on the bubble for most of the season and did just enough to earn an at-large bid, advancing to the SEC tournament final and giving the Florida Gators a scare. The winner moves on to play UMass on Friday, and despite stretches of inconsistency neither team should be considered a cake walk in the second round.

Here’s your schedule for the day.
