The Siena Saints became the first team in the 2014 College Basketball Invitational to advance to the second round after their 66-55 victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves on Tuesday.

Siena, which entered the CBI with a losing record, advanced to the quarterfinals with a win on Tuesday. The rest of the field will be in action Wednesday.


The Saints trailed by three points at halftime but outscored the Seawolves, 35-21, in the second half to secure the win. Siena guard Rob Poole had 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting to lead all scorers. Brett Bisping added 17 for the Saints, who finished with a 15-17 record during the regular season.
Stony Brook finished 13-3 in conference play and won 23 games during the regular season, but the Seawolves were unable to get their offense going on the road, shooting just 36.4 percent from the floor. Jameel Warney led Stony Brook with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Siena will face either Hampton or Penn State in the quarterfinals on March 24.
