Syracuse misses on late opportunities against Dayton

The end of the Orange’s tournament run wasn’t pretty.

Syracuse, down just one point with 14 seconds left, had two opportunities to escape the Dayton Flyers. They succeeded on neither. Tyler Ennis made "a little Euro" step layup to breathe life back into the Orange's tournament chances. The next two possessions crushed it.

Missed field goal one: A well-contested jump with plenty of time on the clock.

Jim Boeheim was perplexed following the mid-range jumper from Ennis. Quite perplexed. Did he just watch his team’s chances pass him by in the blink of an eye?

Jimwut_medium

Yes, yes he did.

A missed free-throw from Dayton gave Syracuse another chance, but nay. The desperation three-point attempt from Ennis also misses.

Goodnight, Syracuse.

Fly on, Flyers.
