CIT Tournament 2014 bracket results: Yale and Murray State will face off in final

The Murray State Racers and Yale Bulldogs each triumphed on Tuesday to move on to the championship game of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Let's take a quick look at how the games played out.

Yale survived a late run by VMI to advance to the CIT finals. VMI trailed by 12 late in the second half and closed the gap to six points with 4:35 remaining. Yale would go on an 11-4 run to close out the game and send VMI home from its first postseason appearance since 1977. The Keydets last made the NCAA Tournament that year and haven't sniffed a whiff of anything since. Javier Duren led the Bulldogs with 19 points, and Justin Sears added 14. Yale held a stiff rebounding edge over VMI, especially on the offensive glass with 15 offensive rebounds, but couldn't get too much out of it, scoring just eight second-chance points.

Rodney Glasgow led the Keydets and all scorers in the game with 20 points, but poor three point shooting and free throw shooting helped doom the Keydets. VMI made 5-of-18 three pointers and went just 13-of-22 from the free throw line.

Murray State Racers 98, Pacific Tigers 75

The Pacific Tigers picked the worst day to give up the most points they have all season as the Murray State Racers absolutely stormed past them to hop into the CIT finals. Despite the final score, the game was relatively close for most of the first half. Murray State used a 9-0 run to close out the first half and never let Pacific get back into the game. Cameron Payne led the Racers with 21 points and T.J. Sapp contributed 18 as the entire team enjoyed the spoils of victory. Murray State shot 55.2 percent from the floor and buried Pacific with the outside shot, hitting 13-of-25 threes.

David Taylor led Pacific with 18 points, but the Tigers couldn't find much offense from their usual sources. Tony Gill, Andrew Bock and Sama Taku, the three top scorers on Pacific, finished with a combined 18 points, shooting a combined 5-of-22 in the process. Throughout the year, the three have combined to average 34.2 points per game.
