A wild NCAA women’s tournament is almost coming to a close as Connecticut, Notre Dame, Maryland and Stanford converge on Nashville, Tenn. for the Final Four on Sunday, April 6.
Women’s NCAA Tournament 2014 schedule and bracket: Some familiar faces in the Final Four
It’s a collection of the usual suspects in the Final Four of the women’s NCAA Tournament, with Maryland crashing the party.


No. 1 Notre Dame has won every game comfortably up to this point, highlighted by an 88-69 win over No. 2 Baylor in the Elite Eight. No. 4 Maryland has had a bit of a closer run, topping No. 3 Louisville by three points in the Elite Eight. It is the first Final Four appearance for Maryland since 2006, when it won the NCAA championship.
It is a pretty familiar group in the Final Four, excluding Maryland, for the NCAA women’s tournament. Stanford was bounced in the Sweet 16 last season, but went to five consecutive Final Fours from 2008-12. Notre Dame has been in the past three Final Fours, including two consecutive title games in 2011 and 2012. Connecticut is synonymous with the NCAA women’s tournament, having been in the Final Four the past six years. The Huskies won three NCAA championships in that time span.
