Lacey Holsworth, little Michigan State superfan, loses fight with cancer
Lacey Holsworth, the 8-year-old Michigan State superfan who battled cancer and whose friendship with Spartans star Adreian Payne inspired many, has died.

Princess Lacey has achieved the ultimate victory. She now dances among angels.... The world is a better place because you were in it. Our hearts are broken. We love you Doll. Dance all night... Mommy and Daddy, Will, Mitchell, and Luke💞 #LoveLikeLaceyFollowHolsworth befriended Payne two years ago in a Lansing hospital. Since then she’s become part of the Michigan State basketball family and college basketball community, evidenced by the emotion from Spartans on social media.

A tumor was wrapped around her spine and abdomen when she and Payne first met. The cancer seemed to be was in remission, but it returned in the fall. She suffered a seizure a couple of weeks ago as her health began to worsen. However, she was able to travel to watch the Spartans play in the NCAA tournament in New York and cheered on Payne in the college slam dunk contest last week in Texas. Our Spartans community, The Only Colors, has more.
