Cheick Diallo has finally been freed. Kansas’ freshman big man has been cleared by the NCAA after missing the Jayhawks’ first four games because of questions about his academic transcript in high school, according to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports. Diallo will reportedly be allowed to start playing on Dec. 1.
Kansas freshman Cheick Diallo cleared by NCAA, per report
The Jayhawks will finally get the services of their star freshman center.

Diallo -- a 6’9, 225 pound center -- was ranked as the No. 7 recruit in the class of 2015 by ESPN. He was the MVP of both the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic. He’s expected to add speed, length and rim protection next to senior star Perry Ellis in Kansas’ front court.
The NCAA’s decision to clear Diallo comes after months of questions about the classes Diallo took at Our Savior New American, the New York high school he to came to after growing up in the African nation of Mali. Diallo’s guardian hired an attorney in November to represent the teenager against the NCAA.
Diallo was projected as the No. 11 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by DraftExpress before ever playing a game for the Jayhawks.
