The nation’s No. 1 basketball recruit has torn his ACL for the second time in his high school career. Harry Giles, a 6’10 big man who transferred to play at prep powerhouse Oak Hill for his senior season, tore his ACL two minutes into his season opener, according to multiple reports.

Giles tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in his left knee while playing for USA Basketball in the summer of 2013. This injury happened to his right knee.

Giles was ranked as the top player by ESPN within a deep and talented 2016 class. He is reportedly set to announce his college decision on Nov. 6. Duke is seen as the front-runner, but Kansas, Kentucky and Wake Forest are also in the mix.

DraftExpress had projected Giles to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Giles is the second top five recruit to tear his ACL in the last three months. Dennis Smith, a five-star point guard who recently committed to NC State, tore his ACL in August.
