BYU basketball player ejected after blatant sucker punch

Things got a little weird late in the game between BYU and Utah on Wednesday, and it all started when BYU’s Nick Emery threw a blatant punch to the face of Utah’s Brandon Taylor. Not a good look.

Emery was appropriately assessed a flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game. Utah fans, apparently very unhappy about the punch, started throwing things on the court.

While not initially given a technical foul, Utah fans kept throwing things and were eventually hit with a technical.

The game eventually resumed and Utah came away with an 83-75 victory. The Utes and BYU have a fairly heated rivalry and Emery’s punch isn’t likely to be forgotten anytime soon.

It’s also one of several dirty incidents by BYU athletes recently. A BYU football player blatantly punched an opponent in the groin this season. The football team was also involved in a brawl prior to their bowl game last year. STOP PUNCHING PEOPLE, BYU.
