Southern Miss finished game with 4 players

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsSouthern Mississippi started its game against FIU on Thursday night with only seven players dressed. The two teams went back and forth all night, and the game eventually went into overtime. Suddenly, Southern Miss found itself in a bizarre situation: it only had four players.
Three Golden Eagles players fouled out during the game, forcing Chip Armelin, Keljin Blevins, Kevin Holland and Shadell Millinghaus to close. And Southern Miss still almost won playing four-on-five.

Stefan Moody is great. The Ole Miss junior is 5’10, 180 pounds of fearlessness, and on Thursday, he lived up to that reputation. The Rebels were down two with time ticking down when Moody unleashed this game-winning three-pointer. Ole Miss won 62-61.
It’s been that kind of season for the Gators. Florida falls to 12-12, while Ole Miss’ tournament dreams stay alive as it moves to 17-7.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY SportsArizona State entered Saturday with an 11-11 overall record and as an 8.5-point home underdog against in-state rival Arizona. Still, the Sun Devils had to have felt like they had more of a chance than the rest of the country, and with good reason.
Few teams have had worse luck so far this season than ASU, which owns a negative-.122 luck rating (via Ken Pomeroy), easily the worst in the conference and among the worst in college basketball. That being the case, their 81-78 upset of the No. 6 Wildcats might not be quite as much of a shocker as it appears to be on paper. Not that we necessarily should have seen it coming.

The end of college basketball games can often seem mired in bureaucracy, so let’s give some credit to Temple coach Frank Dunphy for letting his players decide the outcome in the final seconds of the Owls’ game against Memphis on Saturday afternoon. After a make by Memphis put the Tigers up one, Temple ran back down the other end and got the game-winning buck from Josh Brown with just seconds remaining.
Temple is now 17-7 and overall and third in the American at 8-3. Tusla is still pacing the conference, but the Owls are right there.
