2015 SEC basketball tournament results and bracket: Kentucky advances to semifinal round

The Wildcats’ undefeated season continues after a SEC Tournament win over Florida.

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

No. 1 seed Kentucky continued its undefeated run through the 2014-15 season, defeating No. 8 seed Florida Friday in the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament. The Wildcats won 64-49, led by 13 points and 12 rebounds from Karl-Anthony Towns.

Kentucky led 31-27 at halftime, forcing seven turnovers in the first period and blocking three shots. Towns recorded eight rebounds in the first half, while Andrew Harrison led all scorers with seven points.

The Wildcats started to pull away at the start of the second half, utilizing their physicality on the inside to out rebound the Gators and expand their lead. Kentucky’s lead grew to 17 by the two-minute mark, getting to the line with regularity and keeping the Gators away from easy shot opportunities. The Wildcats took 23 free throw attempts in the game, compared to just five for Florida.
