West Virginia player guarantees Kentucky will be ‘36-1’ after Sweet 16 game

None of Bob Huggins’ boys are intimidated by Kentucky.

Prior to Thursday’s game between West Virginia and Kentucky, one Mountaineer had some words about the Kentucky program and how they would fare against West Virginia. Daxter Miles Jr., a freshman from Baltimore that plays around 20 minutes a night, isn’t at all intimidated by the ‘Cats.

And if that wasn’t enough. Miles Jr. decided to throw some emphasis behind it.

To finish the conversation with reporters, Miles Jr. added this:

Even though Kentucky has dominated almost every team on their way to a perfect 36-0 record, West Virginia could pose the biggest threat to the Wildcats. Bob Huggins has only lost to John Calipari twice in 10 attempts (8-2) and West Virginia’s strong rebounding bigs could potentially hold their own against Kentucky.

On paper, the matchup looks like it may end up being one of the best games of the tournament so far. But if we’ve learned anything from Eastern Washington and Georgetown, rule No. 1 of smack talking: don’t do it until the game is over. Though, it is good to know that the Mountaineers aren’t the least bit afraid of Kentucky.

Oh, and Andrew Harrison decided to just ignore the comments.
