After a few days of uncertainty, junior forward Austin Nichols has been granted his release from Memphis. However, the former five-star recruit will have multiple stipulations to adhere to in order to transfer out of the program.

Nichols will be unable to transfer to any school in Memphis’ conference (the AAC), can’t pick a team on the Tigers’ 2015-16 non-conference schedule and will be unable to chose four other schools: Virginia, Providence, Tennessee and Iowa. Memphis-based reporters L. Jason Smith and Gary Parrish broke the news.

We’ll update this story as it develops.
