5-star recruit Zion Williamson dunks on high schoolers like a created player in ‘NBA 2K’

Putting this kid in a high school basketball game is just unfair.

It took just a few minutes for Anderson Christian High School to get the message: Not all high school athletes are created equally.

Some tryout for the perks that come with playing in school. Others might actually be dedicated to honing their craft and getting better as players. The select few are good enough to earn an athletic scholarship to play in college.

And then there’s Zion Williamson, the 6’7, 230-pound junior playing for Spartanburg Day School in South Carolina. Williamson is the third-ranked player in the Class of 2018 by ESPN, and he put on a show against Anderson Christian with 47 points on Monday.

It all began with an NBA-ready hop step into the lane for a layup through two defenders. Williamson soon put the audience on notice when he soared past a defender for a graceful, but vicious one-handed tomahawk. His offensive explosion included a bevy of vicious rim attacks, highlighted by a gravity-defying 360 jam just moments after shedding a pesky defender.

The home crowd couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed.

This wasn’t the first time Williamson has turned an opposing team into his personal punching bag. The top-five recruit dropped a career-high 50 points — including 10 dunks — along with 16 rebounds and five blocks in a late-November game in the 10th annual Coventry Tournament of Champions.

Williamson also poured on 43 points in a December game against Gatson Day High School in North Carolina.

One thing is clear: Williams is one of the most coveted players in America. He has offers from Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, Kansas, and many more. And if he can do this to college kids across the nation, the NBA could be in his future sooner than we know it.
