Kentucky vs. Texas A&M 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch SEC championship online

The Wildcats will try to clinch yet another SEC title.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

It’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the SEC Tournament finals when top-ranked Texas A&M takes on Kentucky Sunday. Both teams are guaranteed to make the NCAA Tournament, but claiming the auto-bid will surely make Selection Sunday less stressful for one of these teams.

The Aggies advanced this far after one of the more bizarre conference tourney games in recent memory. They completely embarrassed LSU on Saturday by 33 points, and it wasn’t even as close as the box score indicates. The Tigers’ 38 points were the lowest score total by any major conference team this season. LSU’s lack of effort was obvious, and it will probably cost Johnny Jones his job. Nevertheless, the Aggies will take the result.

The Wildcats had a bit more trouble with their semifinal opponent. Georgia put up a great fight, leading for long stretches of the game, but eventually the superior talent won out and Kentucky pulled away with the 93-80 victory. Jamal Murray was on fire all game, finishing with 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Tyler Ulis added 25 points in the win.

This year’s Kentucky team is a step below last year’s squad that went undefeated in the regular season, but John Calipari still has a talented group that’s capable of doing big things in the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Texas A&M has sometimes looked like the SEC’s best team this season, and they’re set to make the big dance for the first time since 2011.

The last time these teams met was on Feb. 20, with the Aggies puling out a 79-77 win in overtime. Jalen Jones led A&M with 24 points and Tyler Davis had a double-double (15 points, 12 rebounds).
