LaVar Ball is starting his own pro league for young players who want to start earning a salary and don’t want to go to college. Ball is starting the Junior Basketball League, which will try to lure top high school recruits with salaries ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 per month, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.

The league will reportedly be funded completely by Big Baller Brand, Ball’s upstart apparel company. He’s looking to field 10 teams with eight players each. The intention is to play in NBA arenas in Los Angeles, Dallas, Brooklyn, and Atlanta.
Ball admitted the idea is still in its early stages and has a long way to go. He has two things: a logo, a featuring a silhouette of his son Lonzo going up for a dunk, and a mandate that all players must wear Big Baller Brand apparel.
“We don’t need a logo of a guy dribbling,” Ball said, an obvious reference to the NBA’s famous Jerry West silhouette. “Nobody does that anymore.”
Nobody dribbles anymore.
Ball’s idea for a new league comes a month after the NCAA’s critical comments on his son LiAngelo being pulled out of UCLA to start a professional career in Lithuania. LiAngelo and younger brother LaMelo have signed a contract with pro club Prienu Vytautas.
