No. 1 seeded Kentucky got past a pesky No. 5 Alabama team in the SEC Tournament semifinals on Saturday, advancing to the championship game for the third consecutive season. The Wildcats were led by true freshman guard De’Aaron Fox, who lit up the scoreboard in the second half, scoring 19 points, along with a nine-straight scoring run. Fox finished with 28 points on the day, a career record in points for the freshman.

Kentucky and Arkansas will have a rematch of the 2015 championship game.


Alabama trailed by just four at halftime, but the Crimson TIde’s defense had no answer for Fox on offense in the second half.
The Wildcats will face No. 7-seeded Arkansas, who defeated No. 3 Vanderbilt in the other semifinal on Saturday. Kentucky faced the Razorbacks just once during the regular season, in early January. The Wildcats won by 26, beating the Razorbacks 97-71 from Rupp Arena.
Kentucky has won 29 SEC tournaments, whereas Arkansas has just one, from the 2000 season. The Razorbacks made the tournament’s championship game back in 2015, and they also faced Kentucky. The Wildcats won that one, 78-63.
