Handsome Dan is Yale’s new live mascot and he is absolutely, positively a very, very good dog who celebrates with the team after big victories.
Yale’s Handsome Dan shows why every team needs a live animal mascot
OK, maybe not every team.

In my dream world, every team has a live mascot so we get a celebratory animal-petting session after each and every game.
We need terrapins for Maryland wins, ducks for Oregon, badgers for Wisconsin, gators for Florida, wolverines for Michigan, ... OK wait maybe this rule should be limited to a few schools.
For now, we’ll have to just hope all Yale sports teams are successful.
It’s a real shame the Bulldogs men’s basketball team lost to Princeton in the Ivy League championship game and won’t make the NCAA tournament. But Handsome Dan has had a good first year.
The six-month-old Old English Bulldog is Yale’s 18th live mascot and comes to games to cheer on his team. He’s especially active when his team beats Harvard.
Handsome Dan is famous enough that he goes by his stage name. His real name is Walter! He’s named after Walter Camp, who played and coached football at Yale in the 1800s.
Look at Walter!
LOOK AT HIM!
Everyone get rid of your creepy/scary/probably naked mascots and get a puppy, please.
