The Florida Gators and Wisconsin Badgers played a remarkable NCAA tournament game in the early hours of Saturday morning. It ended with Florida winning at the buzzer in overtime, but the road there was a fascinating one.
Florida’s Canyon Barry had an amazing clutch chase-down block against Wisconsin
That’s some kind of March moment.
Florida just tied the score in overtime after a chase-down block by Canyon Barry, which set up a basket on the other end by teammate Chris Chiozza. The block is the main thing here, against UW’s Khalil Iverson.
That tied the score at 81 apiece, but Wisconsin went up a few moments later. Florida then won on a Chris Chiozza buzzer-beater.
The game was only in overtime because of an outrageous comeback in the final two minutes by the Badgers. They trailed by eight points with 105 seconds (or 1:45) left. A Bronson Koenig three-pointer, an Ethan Happ layup, and some shoddy game-finishing by the Gators kept the Badgers alive. They paid for it when Zak Showalter hit a preposterous triple just before the buzzer to force OT.
Chiozza bailed out Florida at the end, and all was OK.
