Marvin Bagley III is going to Duke. The No. 1 recruit in the country selected the Blue Devils over USC and UCLA on Monday night.
No. 1 recruit Marvin Bagley III commits to Duke, plans to reclassify to play college ball next season
Bagley is the No. 1 high school player in the country.

Bagley is currently still a member of the 2018 high school class, but he has filed for reclassification, which would allow him to play college basketball this upcoming season if the NCAA grants his request. Before he committed, Bagley said he plans on playing college ball next season. If Bagley is indeed a member of Duke this year, Mike Krzyzewski might have himself the preseason No. 1 when the new polls open.
Bagley is a 6’11 big man out of Los Angeles’ Sierra Canyon High School, by way of Phoenix. He is an exceptional athlete who can make plays above the rim on both ends of the court. He will be expected to be among the top picks in the 2018 NBA Draft if he’s cleared to play by the NCAA.
Bagley joins a Duke team that already has a top-10 worthy roster in place. He’ll join a front court led by freshman Wendell Carter Jr. and sophomore Marques Bolden. The Blue Devils also have a deep and talented backcourt led by senior Grayson Allen and freshmen Trevon Duval and Gary Trent Jr.
Bagley is the consensus No. 1 prospect in high school basketball. Read our feature on why he looks a lot like the future of basketball.
