Bill Self sports Bob Huggins-style pullover for Kansas vs. West Virginia game

If you can’t beat ‘em ...

It’s been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Perhaps it was in that spirit that Bill Self chose to dress exactly like Bob Huggins for Monday night’s Kansas-West Virginia game in Morgantown.

The sartorial mimicry should remind some college hoops fans of “The Sweater Game” in 1985 when Georgetown coach John Thompson sported the same signature lucky sweater that St. John’s coach Lou Carnesecca made famous. Thompson’s Hoyas won that game, which might have given Self another reason to abandon his usual outfit and rock the pullover Monday night.

If that was the case, it’s hard to blame Self for getting superstitious. Kansas had lost four straight at West Virginia heading into Monday night’s Big 12 clash.
