The school board has recommended Lynch be expelled immediately.

The latest decision by the school board comes after investigating an incident that happened off-campus on April 7, 2016.
Earlier this week, the same school board — Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action — also found Lynch responsible for a separate incident that happened in a dorm room on on April 28, 2016.
Lynch was also arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct on May 8, 2016, but the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office declined to press charges at the time.
Earlier this week, the EOAA recommended Lynch be suspended by the school and banned from campus until 2020. Now, the EOAA is recommending that Lynch be expelled “effective immediately.”
Lynch is a 23-year-old senior who transferred to Minnesota from Illinois State and sat out the 2015-16 season. He was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in his debut season and helped turn the Golden Gophers from an eight-win team to a 24-win team that made the NCAA tournament.
