This season in college basketball continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. This was true for the George Mason Patriots on Wednesday night when they defeated the St. Joseph’s Hawks, 79-76 on a buzzer for the second time this season.
George Mason defeats St. Joe’s on a buzzer beater...again
The Patriots have a thrill for the dramatic.
After coming back from an 11-point deficit at the half, all the Hawks had to do was hold George Mason to take the game into overtime.
With six seconds left, a George Mason player brought the ball up the court, only to lose it. Multiple St. Joe’s players had a chance to force a turnover, but somehow sophomore Ian Boyd ended up with the ball and drained a three to win the game.
This was not the first time St. Joe’s lost like this to George Mason. In January, Patriots junior guard Otis Livingston II drained a 25-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Hawks, 81-79.
Thankfully for St. Joe’s, this will be the last time they see George Mason this season.
