The Drexel Dragons made history Thursday night, erasing a 34-point first half deficit to knock off Delaware. The feat marked the largest comeback in NCAA Division I basketball history, surpassing a record that had stood since the 1950s.

Thursday night’s game did not start off well for the Dragons as the Blue Hens raced out to a 53-19 lead with about 2:30 left in the first half. At that point, one would think the Dragons would play out the string in the second half and just take the L on the chin.

The Dragons did not lay down. Instead, they rose up like Godzilla out of the water in the second half and dropped 56 points on Delaware to capture the victory.

It was truly, a historic moment for a basketball program that did not play D1 hoops until 1973-74.

Even Duke had to give the Dragons a shoutout.

Drexel junior guard Tramaine Isabell had a ridiculous game, leading the way with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. This was the second game in a row that Isabell scored 29 points, also doing it against Hofstra last Saturday.

Drexel will now have something to lean on as they wrap up the regular season, while Delaware can only wonder how did they blow a 34-point lead.

Don’t worry Blue Hens, Atlanta Falcons fans feel your pain.
