On the surface, George Mason seems like a relatively average Division-I team. Look closer and they’re actually an awesome average D1 team.
George Mason can’t stop winning games with buzzer-beaters
Three straight buzzer-beaters for George Mason, three straight buzzer-beaters for Ian Boyd.

All George Mason does is win on buzzer-beaters. On Wednesday, George Mason won a third straight game at the buzzer, with a third straight buzzer-beater by sophomore guard Ian Boyd.
This is getting ridiculous.
Saturday, the Patriots pulled out a thrilling 78-76 win over Massachusetts. The game ended on a buzzer-beating layup by Boyd.
For most teams with George Mason’s record, this would probably be the high point of an otherwise pedestrian season. For the Patriots, this has become sort of what they do.
Take, for instance, earlier this week. With George Mason and Saint Joseph’s knotted up at 76, Boyd did the deed again, shocking everyone inside Hagan Arena with this piece of magic.
Unfortunately for St. Joe’s, this was a feeling they were already familiar with.
In the first meeting between the two teams, back on Jan. 10, Mason’s Otis Livingston ripped the net at the buzzer with a game-winning three that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
In all, almost half of George Mason’s eight conference wins have come via true buzzer-beaters.
Looking for more? On Nov. 27, the Patriots stunned James Madison by somehow turning a 71-67 deficit with 10 seconds to play into a 76-72 win without the benefit of overtime.
That game two weeks after Mason had pushed Louisville to the brink in a game where they had taken a halftime lead ... with a buzzer-beater.
There has never been a more exciting 14-15 team in the history of college basketball. Keep an eye on the Patriots during the A-10 tournament — an event where they won a second round game last year by making a buzzer-beater.
