The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks lost to Texas Tech hursday in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Their coach, Kyle Keller, was understandably not happy that his team lost.
I am a millennial who watched Stephen F. Austin lose in the NCAA tournament
Stephen F. Austin head coach Kyle Keller says millennials don’t watch college basketball.

While talking about the loss, he nudged in the idea that millennials don’t watch college basketball. From USA Today:
“… the millennials today, they don’t even watch college basketball,’’ he said Thursday night after Stephen F. Austin lost to Texas Tech in the first round of the NCAA tournament. “A lot of our guys didn’t even know who those cats (Texas Tech players) were because they don’t watch the game. They’re on their phone and doing that kind of stuff.
“I hate to say it, but as much as you or I or anybody in here watches the games, they don’t. Or the NBA. They might watch the slam-dunk contest in February on TNT or whatever, but that’s about the extent of it.”
WOOOOOO that is a spicy take! I honestly want to take a pinch of it and sprinkle some of it over my avocado toast while being unable to purchase a home.
I am 26 years old. I fall under the category of being a millennial. I work from home, and for this website. One of the beautiful things about working from the comfort of my home is I don’t have to find a bullshit reason to get out of work to watch the NCAA tournament. I just turn the games on.
That’s correct — I, a millennial, watch the NCAA tournament. I also watched Stephen F. Austin lose in the NCAA tournament while flipping between the other games going on, like Villanova-Radford, Kentucky-Davidson, and Houston-San Diego State.
Like a typical millennial, I was also on my phone quite often while doing so. I’ve even picked it up a couple times while writing this post. I changed my song from Tupac’s “How Do U Want It” to Migos’ “Notice Me.” Both are really good.
But uh, yeah. Millennials watch basketball, despite what an old grump who is upset his team lost might think.
