The No. 11 seed Ramblers got to the Sweet 16 thanks to clutch plays from their guards. In their first-round matchup against No. 6 Miami (FL), the Ramblers got a game-winning three-pointer from guard Donte Ingram at the top of the key. In their next game against No. 3-seed Tennessee, it was Custer who came up big: He hit a pull-up jump shot in the lane to give Loyola a 63-62 victory.
How did Nevada reach the Sweet 16?
The Wolf Pack won both their games via comeback. In their first-round game against Mo Bamba and the Texas Longhorns, Nevada erased a 14-point deficit in the second half to force overtime. In the extra period, Nevada fell behind by four points, but Caleb Martin scored nine points from three-point range to help his team capture an 87-83 victory.
In their second-round game against No. 2 seed Cincinnati, the Wolf Pack rallied from 22 points to shock the Bearcats, 75-73. Once again, the Martin twins — Caleb and Cody — were instrumental in the victory.
