Well, with Saturday night’s win — and amid the chaos and hilarity of a No. 11 seed finally making its way back to the Final Four — Loyola made a bit of college basketball history.
The Ramblers currently own the best winning percentage in NCAA tournament history. The Ramblers are now better than Duke in Big Dance play, which is saying something.
Now, you might object to this stat with something like “SAMPLE SIZE” or some such, what with Duke currently sitting on top of 147 NCAA tournament games to the Ramblers’ 17. But to that we say “SCOREBOARD.” And never forget that Loyola Chicago still owns one national title with just 17 tournament games in the can.
That’s right, Loyola has one national title for every 17 tournament games they’ve played in. Duke, on the other hand, has one national title for every 29 games they’ve played in.
These numbers don’t lie.
