Both teams are safely in the NCAA tournament field. This game is about pride. Purdue is projected as a No. 2 seed right now, while Michigan is currently a No. 3 seed in our latest Bracketology.
The Wolverines are led by sweet shooting big man Mo Wagner, a German import who leads the team with 14.5 points per game. He’s surrounded by a pair of capable two-way wings in Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman and Charles Matthews. The Wolverines thrive by relying on the three ball.
Purdue has a similar four-out attack around senior center Isaac Haas. The 7’2 Haas had one of his best games of the season last time he faced Michigan, putting up 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting.
Sophomore point guard Carsen Edwards has developed into Purdue’s engine. Edwards poured in 27 points in the semifinal win over Penn State on Saturday. He’s one of five players in the Purdue rotation who can at least 40 percent of their three-pointers.
