Meet Julian Newman, a 5’7 point guard out of Orlando who just started his junior year of high school. Newman is the most extra basketball player in existence.
This high school basketball player has the most extra dribbling moves ever, and we love it
Julian Newman has too much sauce.

A short list of things that are amazing about this video:
- The blatant disregard for traveling and/or carrying rules.
- The play where it looks like he stops playing basketball and instead just starts dancing.
- The chopped feet, the zealous redefining of the crab dribble, the fact that he’s never really going forward.
- The fact that this is a basketball mixtape with one made bucket.
It’s beautiful, all of it, a celebration of how silly and fun this sport and the culture that surrounds it can be all distilled into a 50-second clip.
STEP UP IN THE CLUB LIKE:
Most kids hope to one day go viral. Newman was born to do it. He was on the Steve Harvey Show, the Ellen Show, and Conan O’Brien before he even started high school.
This mixtape of him as a 12-year-old has 12 million views:
He’s also friends with Drake, because of course he’s friends with Drake.
There isn’t much on Newman’s recruitment yet, but that’s to be expected for a prospect outside the top-100 in his class as he enters his junior year. He said he’s heard from Kansas, Florida, UCF, USF, and Miami.
Let Julian Newman carry. Let him bust out trendy dance moves on the court that would more appropriate for a Vine star than a hooper. Let him one day play big-time college basketball so the entire country can witness how glorious this is, not just nerds who spend too much time on the internet. Let this not be the last we hear of this young man.
