5-star USC commit Alijah Arenas was released from the hospital, one week after a car accident in Los Angeles, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. According to a statement provided by the family, Arenas is resting under close watch at home.

The star guard came out of a medically induced coma due to smoke inhalation on April 25 after a one-car accident in a Tesla Cybertruck, but fortunately there’s no reports of any serious injuries stemming from the crash. The family is asking for privacy to help Arenas recover and for his well-being.

Arenas reportedly avoided major injuries in the crash, and is already walking and talking.

Arenas, son of former NBA guard Gilbert Arenas, was the No. 13 overall recruit in his class according to ESPN, and was named a McDonald’s All-American. He’s expected to be a key contributor to a USC team that’s loading up for a deep run after adding Auburn transfer Chad Baker-Mazara and Maryland’s Rodney Rice in the transfer portal.

It’s great to see Arenas recover from this and be able to go home. Wishing for a speedy recovery.
