It sounds like Taylor’s circle of trusted advisors didn’t quite know what to make of Nick Saban’s offer of a 2013 scholarship instead of a 2012, either. However, Taylor’s apparently being empowered by all the attention his story is bringing.
At one point in the conversation, Alabama assistant coach Chris Rumph is stumped by questions raised in the AJ-C blog’s comment section -- a comment section that has a particular reputation around the Southeast, but is really no worse than the average newspaper comment section. Still, it’s a newspaper comment section, not exactly the kind of forum known for constructing dazzling arguments.

Getty ImagesAll this after he said he was told by Saban three months ago that his spot in the class was assured. Much was also made of Saban allegedly telling Taylor he’d sign a non-binding contract and find him a summer job. But who could really get all that worked up about it when Taylor himself was fine with the whole arrangement?
Turns out he’s no longer fine with it. Taylor has told multiple local outlets he’s going to commit to another school this signing day, but he’s also said he’s still committed to Alabama for the time being. Purdue, for one, has thrown its hat in the ring.

Feel free to boil with outrage at Nick Saban waiting until weeks before signing day to tell longtime 2012 commitment Justin Taylor that he’ll need to sit out a year before he can join the Tide (to make it up, Taylor says Saban will sign a 2013 contract* and help find him a summer job**). I’m just here to laugh at this:
