Ronald Darby Recruiting Update: National Signing Day Decision On ESPN Between Auburn, Clemson, Notre Dame & Florida State

Ronald Darby will announce live on ESPN on National Signing Day. He will decide between Florida State, Clemson, Auburn and Notre Dame.

Ronald Darby, one of the top cornerback recruits in the country and a former Notre Dame commitment, has narrowed his focus to Florida State, Clemson, Notre Dame and Auburn. Darby originally committed to the Irish on April 16th after Notre Dame’s spring game. The Under Armour All-America backed out of his commitment in early January.

Darby stars for Potomac (Oxon Hill, Md.) and is one of the top players in the state. After decommitting from the Irish, the 5’11, 174-pound Darby proceeded to take visits to Florida State and Clemson. Darby has previously visited Notre Dame, Auburn and Maryland. Those four schools, minus Maryland, comprise his final four.

Florida State is thought to hold the lead for Darby, according to Rivals! recruiting analyst Mike Farrell. Farrell is maligned in some recruiting circles, but he is generally believe to have his finger on the pulse of recruits in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

Darby is perhaps the second fastest recruit in this recruiting cycle. The fastest, of course, is Florida State’s Marvin Bracy; an Olympic hopeful. Bracy heavily recrutied Darby during the Under Armour All-America Game, and persuaded him to visit Florida State. Florida State’s track program is thought to be a major attraction to Darby. None of his other three finalists have an elite track program.
