2013 DL Christian Lacouture Decommits From Nebraska, Will Visit LSU

In one of the more odd sagas of the 2013 class, a Nebraska defensive lineman has decommitted for a second time.

On Sunday, 2013 Lincoln (NE) Southwest defensive lineman Christian Lacouture decommitted from the Nebraska Cornhuskers after weeks of discussion with his family. Though he had been in attendance at numerous Husker home games this season, he foreshadowed his decision when he did not attend the Michigan game the day before making his decommitment public.

Prior to the start of the 2012 high school football season, Lacouture and his family moved from College Station, Texas to Lincoln so the talented 6-5, 270-pounder could be close to his planned future destination. He had previously played at Odessa (TX) Permian before spending his junior season at A&M Consolidated.

Lacouture will now take an official visit to Baton Rouge to watch the LSU Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in a clash with national implications. The Tigers continued to recruit him as he was committed to Nebraska, which likely played a role in his decision and the three-time visitor to Louisiana, Lacouture will need to make a decision in the near future since he plans on enrolling at the school of his choice for the spring semester.

With LSU seemingly his only planned visit at this time and those three previous trips to Baton Rouge, the Tigers are the odds-on favorite to receive the third commitment from the versatile defensive lineman who may well end up at defensive tackle, but was told that he would play some linebacker for Nebraska.

Head coach Les Miles and his Tigers currently have 22 commitments in the 2013 class, but only one from a defensive tackle, Lacouture’s likely future position given his current size.

During the 7-on-7 season in Texas prior to his move, Lacouture worked some at tight end and showed off his strong athleticism for his size by making some plays in that format, including a diving touchdown catch in the endzone while SB Nation Recruiting was in attendance.

It’s been an unusual process for Lacouture with all the moves and decommitments. After committing to Texas A&M in January of 2011, Lacouture remained firm with his pledge to his hometown Aggies until decommitting in March and announcing his verbal commitment to Nebraska in May, seemingly ending the process once and for all with the move to Nebraska.
