Ricky Seals-Jones Back From Injury, Ready To Visit LSU

Seven weeks after the Sealy (TX) star dislocated his kneecap in a nationally-televised game, he was back on the field Friday night.

What looked at the time like a season-ending knee injury turned out to be a dislcoated kneecap for 2012 Sealy (TX) athlete Ricky Seals-Jones, who returned to action for the first time Friday night against Columbus (TX) for the first time since he sustained the injury in early September in a game against Houston (TX) St. Pius X that was televised on ESPNU.

It was a typical performance for the electric playmaker on Friday night, featuring a touchdown reception and an interception returned for a touchdowns.

He was happy to be out there ($), but did experience a setback:

It was great just being out there and hitting someone new for a change. It was great but it ended early when I sprained my ankle. I just have to get back to the doctor, get back strong and get ready for next week.

Seals-Jones drew some attention by wearing Texas A&M gloves early in the game on a cold night in Texas, but said afterwards that it was merely to keep his hands warm ($) and that fans shouldn’t read anything into it.

His two finalists are LSU and Texas A&M, and both feature productive offenses in his opinion ($) after watching them go head-to-head recently in College Station:

They’re both explosive. They can each go whenever they want. That’s what’s great about each team. Watching them two, I was just amazed on how both offenses can just go.

He also shared his thoughts on the gameday experience at Kyle Field:

Kyle Field is crazy on a gameday. I had fun, my parents had a great time, it was a great game, so it was all good. It was great out there seeing them play the way they did. I don’t know what else to say, it was just crazy.

When the crowd started swaying it was crazy. I’ve never seen anything like that. When people told me their crowd gets crazy, I thought everyone was over exaggerating it, but when you go out there and see it, you will be amazed.

Seals-Jones is set to watch LSU take on Alabama this weekend in what should be an equally notable atmosphere in Baton Rouge and sounds ready to take it all in:

[I’m excited about] just going down there and seeing the stadium. They said Death Valley is something like Kyle Field, but coach T-Mac (special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey) was saying that it’s a little bit better so I’ve got to go out there and check it out and see how it goes down there.

After that, RSJ plans on sitting down with his family to talk about a decision, but doesn’t plan on finalizing those discussions until after his senior season is over.
