The top quarterback in Texas is headed to Austin.
Is Tyrone Swoopes The Best QB Prospect In Texas?
According to John Kocurek of Barking Carnival, the answer is yes. That’s a bold claim considering the crop of QB recruits in the Lone-Star State for 2013, including T.J. Barrett and Cody Thomas.
Kocurek lists five main reasons for this claim: size, speed, arm strength, delivery, and the fondness that Texas’ staff has for the Longhorns commitment. It’s an interesting read, and I’m inclined to agree.

Swoopes stands 6’5” and weighs 220 pounds. He is rated four stars or better by most of the major services. Some have even called Swoopes the top player in the state.
While the competition he faces is not the same as faced by Vince Young, the comparisons to the former Texas quarterback are unavoidable. Swoopes is a mobile quarterback who will make a lot of plays with his feet. His throwing does need a lot of work, but the physical talents are undeniable. Offers from Notre Dame and Stanford are also encouraging, from an athletic standpoint.
