In an effort to combat rampant cheating on the SAT and ACT, administrators are implementing new security measures for standardized college entrance exams:
New Rules Make Cheating On SAT And ACT More Difficult
Students taking college entrance exams this fall will have to submit photo IDs with their applications -- a key security upgrade following a widespread cheating scandal at a number of high schools on New York’s Long Island, a prosecutor and testing officials announced Tuesday.For years, there have been wild rumors and some verified accounts of SAT and ACT fraud perpetrated by college football (and basketball) recruits. Some recruits have even been forced to attend a junior college instead of a university when their fraud on the testing system was uncovered.
These new security measures will likely curb a lot of the cheating on standardized tests, because of the increased amount of planning required to procure a fake ID at the time of application, as opposed to doing so on test day. Friendly guidance counselors willing to change grades just became a lot more popular.
