And Oregon ended up okay, ranking No. 19 in 247’s composite ratings. Some would say they actually finished very strong. They flipped Cal’s best offensive lineman recruit in Cameron Hunt. They pulled in a solid wide receiver in Devon Allen from Arizona. They managed to hold onto the Robinson twins, plus got a huge surprise on National Signing Day when Torrodney Prevot put on a Ducks hat.

It was touch-and-go for a few days, but five-star running back Thomas Tyner signed with Oregon after re-committing to the school.
Tyner, a 6-foot, 200-pound running back from Aloha High School in Beaverton, had been committed to Oregon very early in his process, not surprising for the top recruit in a state whose football has been dominated by the Ducks of late. However, in October, he decommitted, saying he intended on looking at other schools before choosing Oregon for sure. His exploratory period was relatively short, however, as he chose to return to Oregon within 48 hours without even having taken a visit elsewhere - a move Oregon blog Addicted to Quack noted was not that dissimilar to what Chip Kelly did with other jobs - although that was before Kelly left for the NFL.

Stephen DunnWhile Tyrell seems pretty set to be an outside linebacker, Tyree is a bit more flexible. Tyree has proven that he can go outside and play wide receiver while also moving to the defensive side of the field to play safety. Tyree has the height to win one-on-one battles when catching footballs and the range to track ball-carriers all around the field and take them down with force.
Here’s scouting report from Derrell Warren of SB Nation:

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODATyrell Robinson made his decision to commit to Oregon this evening, picking them over Washington. Tyrell will join his brother Tyree, who also signed with the Ducks.
Unlike his brother (who is versatile enough to play multiple spots and probably has multiple avenues to hitting the playing field) Tyrell seems pretty locked into playing outside linebacker. He has a solid frame that could make him the type of aggressive rusher that could excel in passing situations. Robinson also should be fast enough to be a prototypical linebacker and be a good tracker in open space, a necessity for an outside linebacker. Robinson probably needs a year to fully develop into that position but it’s likely that he’ll end up seeing the field sooner rather than latter.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsWith the news that Chip Kelly has left the Oregon Ducks to become the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, many Oregon fans are left to wonder how the Ducks will recruit without Kelly and with a serious case before the NCAA.
The good news? Oregon shouldn’t lose much. The bad news? Oregon really didn’t have much to lose.

Laremy Tunsil Bud Elliott (SB Nation)Though neither school invited recruits to the game, Georgia’s win over Florida should pay dividends on the recruiting trail. But it’s not about beating the Gators, though that is a very nice win. The real impact could be felt if the Dawgs take care of business and again reach the SEC Championship. If they were to win, that helps recruiting. And if they were to lose, they can tell the few remaining recruits on their board that they are the piece needed to get over the hump. The win also helped silence any “Mark Richt hot seat” talk, which surprisingly crept up after Georgia’s blowout loss at South Carolina.
The win did impress star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, who has long had Georgia and Alabama out in front for his signature. “Georgia beasted Florida,” Tunsil told 247sports.

Jonathan FerreyJust a day after top running back recruit Thomas Tyner decommitted from Oregon to take visits to other schools, he is back in the fold for the Ducks according to Justin Hopkins of 247 sports.
Tyner is a back with good size at more than 200 pounds and has breakaway speed. Assuming he sticks with Oregon, he will be capable of hitting a lot of home runs in Chip Kelly’s spread offense.

Dontre Wilson (Photo by the author) The on-again, off-again announcement from 2013 DeSoto (TX) all-purpose back Dontre Wilson has been on again for the last several days and it went down as originally planned on Friday evening at the Eagle spring game, as Wilson pledged to the Oregon Ducks in front of friends, family and fans.
When Wilson revealed his plans in late April, he had narrowed his list to Oregon and Texas, thus beginning a month that saw a Rivals report quoting Wilson saying that he was down to Oregon and Ohio State ($), which was later refuted, then had Wilson deciding to hold off on a decision, then declaring that he was also considering Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M, and finally deciding to stick with the intentions he declared back in April. Whew. Got all that?

Darren Carrington Jr. (6’3” 180) is a fast-rising recruit from San Diego (Calif.) Horizon Christian Academy. Carrington Jr. is the son of former San Diego Charger defensive back, Darren Sr. He is being pursued to play either wide receiver or safety by most interested programs, even though he spent a lot of time under center at quarterback last season. Recruiting initially started off a bit slow for the three-star prospect, but the combination of his highlight film, and his performance on the camp circuit has allowed Carrington Jr. to see his recruitment pick up tremendously over the past six weeks.
Carrington Jr.‘s initial offer was from Montana. Since then, he has garnered offers from such programs as San Diego State, Arizona, Tulane, Boston College, Colorado, Arizona State, Northwestern, and San Jose State. Despite the increased attention, it’s been said that Carrington Jr. would likely shut down his recruitment completely if he received a committable offer from Oregon, where he plans to camp next month. Regardless of what transpires, he is expected to see his stock increase even further if he is able to maintain his current progression through the summer and produce a strong senior season.
