Tyree Robinson signs with Oregon Ducks

Tyree Robinson has chosen to stick with the Oregon Ducks over the Washington Huskies, joining brother Tyrell in Eugene.

After a few weeks of twisting in the wind after the departure of Chip Kelly, Tyree Robinson decided to stick with the Oregon Ducks this morning. Tyree and his twin brother, Tyrell, will both be suiting up for the team.

While Tyrell seems pretty set to be an outside linebacker, Tyree is a bit more flexible. Tyree has proven that he can go outside and play wide receiver while also moving to the defensive side of the field to play safety. Tyree has the height to win one-on-one battles when catching footballs and the range to track ball-carriers all around the field and take them down with force.

Here’s scouting report from Derrell Warren of SB Nation:

Robinson’s combination of ball skills, length and size make him a natural fit at the safety position. Although, if he does choose to play on the defensive side of the ball at the collegiate level, his change of direction and aforementioned size might combine to make him valuable at cornerback. However, the additional size he is likely to put on in a collegiate strength program could make him eventually outgrow the position.

Tyree is probably more polished in terms of his safety skills, so it’s likely if he sees the field early it’ll be on the defensive side of the field.. However, Tyree might have the ability to play wide receiver one day with his ability to go one-on-one with

Ratings: Tyree is a consensus four-star athlete and safety.

Vitals: Tyree is 6’4 and weighs 190 pounds

Other offers: Tyree had offers from all Pac-12 schools, plus Georgia, Missouri and Tennessee in the SEC, and Notre Dame.

Recruitment timeline: Tyree and Tyrell Robinson took multiple trips to Oregon in September and committed to the Ducks. They then reopened their recruitment after the departure of Chip Kelly to the NFL while remaining committed to Oregon. After visits to USC and Washington, the Robinsons ultimately decided on the Ducks.
