Stephen DunnSu’a Cravens officially joins USC Wednesday, as the five-star safety signs with the school he committed to in June.
Cravens, a 6-foot-1, 205-pounder from Murrieta, California, is universally considered the top safety in his class. There was some talk of the player as a linebacker, as Derrell Warren wrote when breaking down the recruit in April. Cravens had dozens of offers, but was most notably considering Michigan and USC’s rival in southern California, UCLA, before he eventually committed in June.

Su’a Cravens via youtube Cravens is a tremendous combination of size, agility and athleticism. You can read more about his ability in this excellent scouting report from SB Nation contributor Derrell Warren. Cravens should be an immediate contributor on special teams for the Trojans, and there is a strong possibility that he will vie for the starting position as well. USC defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, likely sees Cravens as a more athletic version of former all-pro safety John Lynch.

For a while now, most have believed that elite safety recruit Su’a Cravens is going to end up at USC. He is set to announce on June 6. But before making the call, the Murrieta (Calif.) Vista High School recruit will take unofficial visits to Michigan and Nebraska. Both schools are believed to be in Cravens’ top group, along with Ohio State and UCLA. Cravens will leave for his visits on Tuesday.
Cravens also recently clarified that he did not release a top three or give exact dates of visits for each school
