Marqui Hawkins, a receiver recruit from Columbus (Ga.) Carver, committed to the Florida Gators Monday night, reports Lance Davis of Alligator Army. Hawkins stands 6'2" and weighs 190 pounds. He is a consensus three-star recruit, but has been heating up of late, with other offers including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and USC. If those offers are legitimate, expect Hawkins to soon be a four-star recruit.
Marqui Hawkins Commits To Florida Gators
Florida grabs a top receiver recruit.
Hawkins’ coach spoke to the AJC about the commitment:
“We spoke earlier in the week about Florida, and Marqui went on to tell his mother about it,” Carver coach Dell McGee told the AJC. “He called Coach [Will] Muschamp and told him the good news. Coach Muschamp called me after he committed. Both parties are happy.”
Hawkins is the 16th commitment of the 2013 class for the Gators.
