Arlington (TX) Bowie CB Steve Wesley Commits To TCU Horned Frogs

The Monday decision had seemed imminent for some time.

Just hours ago, the defensive back position for the TCU Horned Frogs in the 2013 class appeared to still be one of great need. Fast forward hours later and head coach Gary Patterson now has two prospects in the fold, as Arlington (TX) Bowie cornerback Steve Wesley has now joined Mansfield (TX) safety George Baltimore as Monday commits, according to Scout.

A three-star prospect by Rivals and Scout, Wesley is a 6-0, 175-pounder who also held offers from Illinois, Kansas, Wake Forest, and West Virginia prior to ending his commitment. Long considered a TCU lean, Wesley had spoken about wanting to hear from LSU and Oklahoma State when interviewed at the Colleyville Heritage SQT just days ago.

The offers never came from those schools and Wesley opted not to wait any longer to make his decision.

The well-built cornerback didn’t have many opportunities to make an impression on this writer -- only one play -- but made the most favorable impression possible on that one play:

In a blowout win over an overmatched Azle squad, I was speaking with Wesley about his recruitment when he was called back into the game and promptly intercepted a pass he returned for a touchdown. A limited snapshot, to be sure, but a strong first impression.
