Reuben Foster Announces Auburn Commit Over Alabama, Georgia

Linebacker Reuben Foster, the No. 2 recruit in the country behind Robert Nkemdiche, has been a longtime Alabama commit, but things done changed. At a Thursday afternoon recruiting announcement press conference in dadgum July, Foster announced he’s committing to archrival Auburn, and it’s a good thing the Finebaum show is on shortly, isn’t it?

We can now go ahead and consider Auburn the strong leader for Foster’s services, but Signing Day is a long way away. Alabama’s class is still very strong, but think Nick Saban goes twice as hard after Robert Nkemdiche now?

The 6’2, 228 pounder pledged to the Tide in July of last year, but has since transferred to Auburn High School and twice visited UGA, leading to wide speculation that he’d be flipping to one of those two schools. He has offers from USC, Clemson, and others, and would probably have dozens more if he hadn’t committed to Saban so early.

Said our own Bud Elliott hours before the announcement:

Foster has connections to both schools.

He was recently profiled as wanting to play with Georgia commitment Tray Matthews, a top safety recruit. However, Foster is rumored to have recently canceled his upcoming visit to ‘Dawg Night’, a large recruiting event for Georgia scheduled for next week.

That leaves many speculating that Foster will commit to Auburn, spurred by his recent move to the area, and interaction with Auburn’s staff.
