Reuben Foster inks with Alabama

@oanewsprepsReuben Foster, one of the top linebacker commits in the nation has stuck with a school in SEC country, deciding to sign with Alabama after all. He’s committed to a SEC West school on three different occasions, and now has an official final spot for the time being. Thus concludes one of the all-time most eventful recruiting experiences.
Foster, a 6-foot-2, 228-pounder, had changed his mind several times before coming up with his final decision. First, he was committed to Alabama, but transferred to Auburn High School, just down the road from Auburn. That led to speculation he’d switch his commitment, and sure enough, he swapped schools, going from the Crimson Tide to the Tigers, persuaded by then-Auburn assistant coach Trooper Taylor -- the father of one of his high school teammates. Auburn seemed like the school for him (he even got a huge Auburn tattoo) but he decommitted when the school let go of Taylor. Monday night, he again committed to Alabama, getting congratulations from Barack Obama along the way.

USA TODAY SportsThe long, strange recruitment of Reuben Foster is scheduled to come to an end Monday, when the five-star linebacker prospect announces his choice. Fox Sports South’s “Next Class” will cover the event, set to begin at 10 a.m. ET.
Foster, who is ranked as the nation’s top inside linebacker recruit by Rivals, has been chased by most of the SEC. In July 2011, before the start of his junior season, he committed to Alabama. Just over a year later, Foster flipped his commitment to Auburn. After his senior season -- and Gene Chizik’s firing -- he decommitted from Auburn and opened it up to everyone. Georgia, LSU, and San Diego State have entered the fray since then.

Bud Elliott (SB Nation)“Coach Grantham just popped the tape in, we watched it, and it was pretty exciting,” Foster said. “He wants to move me around, blitz me a lot, and he showed me Jarvis Jones video, and how he used them. I like that because that is my style. I rush the quarterback well, I play fast, and I liked what he was showing me.”
Foster was originally an Alabama commitment, then flipped to Auburn, but decided to open things back up after Gene Chizik was fired at the end of the 2012 season. Foster is still considering the Tigers, though, and he’s planning to visit the school on Feb. 1. He also visited Alabama on Jan. 18.

USA TODAY SportsFoster’s recruitment has been one of the more dramatic sagas of the 2013 recruiting cycle. Foster originally committed to Alabama, but flipped to Auburn last July. However, he de-committed from the Tigers following the dismissal of head coach Gene Chizik, despite having already gotten an Auburn tattoo on his arm. Many think that Alabama could wind up getting Foster back, but a lot can (and probably will) happen before Signing Day on Feb. 6.
The five-star linebacker from Auburn (Ala.) High School has already taken official visits to Washington and Alabama this January, and will take an official visit to Georgia on Jan. 25 before finishing at Auburn on Feb. 1.

USA TODAY SportsOne of the best recruits in the 2013 class is taking a trip up to Seattle this weekend. Auburn high school linebacker Reuben Foster will be visiting the Washington Huskies this weekend.
It’s clear that despite the visit and the persistence of Washington recruiting guru Tosh Lupoi, the Huskies are decided underdogs in this fight. The teams that seem to have the best shot are the Auburn Tigers (the team that Foster originally committed to before reopening the recruiting process) and the Georgia Bulldogs. Washington is right behind Alabama and LSU here and would have to make great strides on Foster’s visit to really get into the game.
