2015 QB Recruit Deandre Johnson Commits To Florida State

Deandre Johnson, a 2015 quarterback recruit out of Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast High School, committed to the Florida State Seminoles Friday.

Johnson can’t enroll at Florida State for another 36 months, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming a high-profile player.

Casual high school fans will remember his high school team being destroyed in the state final, but Johnson was a very impressive QB during his freshman season. A dual-threat passer, Johnson has a good arm and already claims offers from North Carolina, Clemson and Florida State. At just 6’0 and 170 pounds, it’s important to remember that growth and projections are a big part of recruiting evaluations.

Johnson made a visit to Tallahassee for the Jimbo Fisher Camp, but did not workout. But for Florida State’s coaches, his freshman tape was apparently enough to accept the commitment.
