Jacob McCrary, a top receiver recruit for the class of 2014, committed to the Florida State Seminoles Friday night.
McCrary stands 6’0 and weighs in at 175 pounds. He was visiting Florida State for the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp.

Denver Kirkland Ira Denson Out of Miami Booker T. Washington, Denver Kirkland is emerging as one of the better offensive line recruits in Florida for the 2013 cycle. The big (6’5, 333 pounds) tackle followed up a strong performance at The Opening with another during Thursday’s portion of the Jimbo Fisher Camp. After, I chatted with Kirkland about his recruitment.
“It’s been great. Really great,” Kirkland said of his experience at the camp. “We come out here, buckle down and everybody is about business. Business of getting better.”

Joseph Yearby One of the top performers in the Thursday night session of the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp was Joseph Yearby, a 2014 running back commitment to the ‘Noles from Miami Central High School. Yearby is exceptionally quick and smooth, and a natural at the position. I spoke with Yearby as part of SB Nation’s coverage of the camp.
Yearby was happy with his decision to attend the camp, as he said that “coming out here was a very good thing to do. Getting with coach Eddie Gran, doing the drills, learning, it was a good thing to do. [Coach Gran] shows you things that you didn’t learn before. I learn a lot from him.”

Christian Morgan There were many impressive prospects at the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp. But one of the most impressive recruits in attendance, Christian Morgan, didn’t work out. The talented Plano (TX) Prestonwood Christian School tight end immediately stood out physically. He was on an official visit to Florida State for the weekend, and FSU’s coaches made sure to show him a lot of attention. Morgan holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, both Arizona schools, Cal, Miami, Missouri, Florida State, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Washington. He is rated three or four stars, depending on service.
Recently, he narrowed his list to Baylor, Florida State, Arkansas and Ole Miss.

While the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp featured many of the top recruits in Florida and the Southeast, one of the better prospects at the camp didn’t even bring his cleats. Davin Bellamy, a top defensive end recruit out of Atlanta’s Chamblee Carter High School was in town to visit, not to work out.
Three days after returning from Tallahassee, Fla., Bellamy was still glowing about his visit Tuesday. “It was great. Florida State was the best visit I’ve had,” Bellamy said, adding: “They are the front-runners.”

On Friday, a new face emerged in the offensive line group for the Jimbo Fisher Camp. Ryan Hoefeld, a 6’3, 265-pound center prospect, made his way up from New Orleans. He stars for Brother Martin High School. Hoefeld performed well enough to earn an offer after the conclusion of camp.
“It was awesome. I didn’t know much about Florida State, but I loved it,” Hoefeld said. “We watched some movies and I had no idea about how much tradition Florida State has,” he added, speaking of Florida State’s 3D film often shown to prospects.

Freddie Stevenson, a top linebacker recruit, visited the Jimbo Fisher Camp over the weekend. Stevenson plays for Bartow (Fla.) High School. He’s 6’1, 230 pounds with good speed, and can be described as a run-and-hit ‘backer. The various recruiting sites give him three or four stars.
Unfortunately for Stevenson, he was injured last November, breaking his fibula. The January surgery required a plate and pins to be inserted in his leg. The pins are now out, but when doctors remove them, they discovered that the cartilage in his ankle was insufficient. Doctors filled the ankle with gel, and Stevenson now says that he is close to 90 percent. He was officially cleared during the last week of spring football, but didn’t want to risk re-injury while his rehab continued.

The stars of that defense include linebackers Daniel McMillian, a Florida commitment, and Tyrell Lyons, a Florida State commitment. McMillian surprisingly came to the Jimbo Fisher Camp over the weekend, and I had the opportunity to interview the pair together.
“I just came out here to show off my talent and game. It’s the off-season, so come out here and work out,” McMillian said when asked about his surprising decision to attend the camp.

Davin Bellamy didn’t make it to Tallahassee in time for the Jimbo Fisher Camp as originally planned, but the talented Atlanta (Ga.) Chamblee Carter defensive end will be in Tallahassee Saturday to tour the campus and meet with Florida State’s coaches, he tweeted.
Bellamy is a four-star recruit and a promising defensive line prospect at 6’4 and 230 pounds.

Out of Logan (UT) High School, Lucas Falk paid his own way to Tallahassee to prove himself against some of the top athletes in the country. I caught up with the 6’4 215-pound Falk to get the latest with his recruitment.
“It was fun. The nation’s best athletes are down here, and it was cool to work with coach Craig and coach Fisher. Intense. Good stuff,” Falk said of his experience at the camp.
