Alvin Kamara Has New Top List, Will Decide In September

Norcross (Ga.) High’s Alvin Kamara had an excellent performance at ESPN’s Gridiron Kings event in Orlando over the weekend. A consensus top-12 running back recruit, the 5’10, 191-pound Kamara caught the ball very well and got open with ease.

After, he chatted with SB Nation Recruiting contributor Scott Crumbly.

Kamara noted that UGA commits Brice Ramsey and Shaq Wiggins have been recruiting him to join them in Athens.

“It’s been going good. A lot of these guys are the same guys I played with at The Opening. I was with Ryan Green and Alvin Bailey, two dynamic dudes. Brice Ramsey, who’s committed to Georgia, is my quarterback. He’s still pushing me to commit (laughed). Shaq Wiggins is still pushing me, too. All of these guys are great players,” Kamara said.

Since The Opening, Kamara has named a top-five schools: Georgia, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Tennessee and FSU. He then threw Oregon in at No. 6 afterwards. That’s a change from his top-three given at the opening, which consisted of Alabama, Georgia and Clemson.

Kamara recently took a visit to Tennessee last weekend for the first time. He Liked it enough to throw the Vols into the mix. Kamara enjoyed meeting the coaching staff and seeing old Norcross teammate Jason Croom, a wideout for the Volunteers.

Kamara enjoyed Knoxville and chatting with the Tennessee coaches. Running backs coach Jay Graham gave a tour of the facilities and discussed how he would fit in Tennessee’s scheme.

A decision date is not set in stone for Kamara, but he does have a general idea of when he might pull the trigger.

“I said I kind of wanted to do it in September, but I don’t want to make any promises. That’s when I kind of see myself making the decision,” he said.
