A’Shawn Robinson Planning Visits To USC, Alabama, Texas

Texas Longhorns recruitniks were shocked last week when 2013 Fort Worth Arlington Heights defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson unexpectedly showed up in Tallahassee to watch the Florida State Seminoles take on the Clemson Tigers.

And the bad news for fans of the burnt orange and white continued Thursday, because Robinson isn’t done taking visits -- he told 247Sports that he’s also planning on taking official visits to USC and Alabama ($) before the process is through, even though the Trojans already have a full class with 18 pledges.

A source close to the Arlington Heights program considers USC to be a serious threat to the Longhorns.

A standout at The Opening due to his natural strength and ability to pick up tips on technique from current Detroit Lions star Ndamukong Suh, Robinson is currently the top-rated prospect in the Texas class after the defection of Sealy athlete Ricky Seals-Jones, a player Texas is no longer recruiting.

If there is some good news for the Longhorns, it's that Robinson plans on making his way down to Austin on Oct. 6 to see the school to which he is currently pledged. The game against the West Virginia Mountaineers will mark the first time the former Big East power will play in Austin as a member of the Big 12 conference, and the visitor list is expected to include some of the top targets still left on the Texas recruiting board.

Robinson added Thursday that he is still committed to play for Mack Brown and company but seemingly did not attach a percentage to his commitment. During the summer, he declared himself 100 percent committed to Texas as rumors swirled that he would take the visits he is now planning.
