LSU football recruiting: Tigers loading up yet again

The Tigers perennially bring in highly ranked recruiting classes, and 2013 looks like it will not be an exception.

Year after year, Les Miles and the coaching staff at LSU bring in highly rated recruiting classes. 2013 appears to be no different, as the Tigers have a consensus top 10 class as currently constituted. As usual, LSU will see an infusion of talented defensive linemen and defensive backs, which is good considering the recent exodus of talent from Baton Rouge to the NFL.

The Tigers currently have 25 commits in their 2013 class, so there isn’t much wiggle room unless they lose a few commitments. Here’s a closer look at some of LSU’s biggest commits:

Greg Gilmore: Gilmore is a 6-foot-4, 273 pound defensive tackle from North Carolina and is rated as a four star prospect by each of the major scouting services. However, one of the few positions on the LSU defense that wasn’t really harmed by NFL attrition this year was defensive tackle, so Gilmore will have to wait his turn to get on the field.

Frank Herron: Herron has a good chance to make an impact right away in Baton Rouge due to the departure of Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery. The 6-foot-5, 235 pound defensive end from Memphis is a four-star prospect and slots into a position of need for the Tigers.

Josh Boutte: A New Iberia native, Boutte is a four star interior offensive line prospect and is considered one of the top ten in his position in this class. Guard is one of the positions of depth on the LSU roster, so he’ll have to beat out some people to get playing time.

Tre’Davious White: Another highly rated Louisiana native, White is a four star cornerback recruit from Shreveport that is also in the top ten rated players in his position. He also reportedly can run a 4.4 40, so he has speed to spare.
