Ramsey had been a tenuous commitment to the Trojans -- at best -- for months, and was heavily considering the Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles as well. Florida State’s coaching staff had been told that Ramsey will sign with the Seminoles.

Ramsey visited USC last week, but that didn’t stop speculation that he was planning on flipping his pledge. With five-star safeties Su’a Cravens and Leon McQuay as well as four-star Chris Hawkins already committed to USC, they already have an absolutely stacked defensive backfield recruiting class, but at Florida, he’d be competing with with Vernon Hargreaves III - considered the best cornerback recruit in the country. Ramsey had also visited Washington and Mississippi State since committing to USC, but is no longer considering those schools.

The biggest visitor of the weekend for the Trojans is Eddie Vanderdoes, a five-star defensive tackle from Auburn, Calif., Placer High School. At 6’3, 310 pounds, Vanderdoes is rated as the No. 1 defensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2013 by 247Sports and ESPN, while Rivals lists him as a four-star and the No. 4 player at his position.

Bud Elliott, SB NationHowever, current Florida commit and Brentwood Academy teammate of Ramsey, Max Staver, may be pushing hard for his friend to come with him to Gainesville. Staver put out a somewhat cryptic message on his twitter account Tuesday, which has since been deleted. In that message he led many to believe Ramsey may soon be giving his commitment to the Gators:
The fight may not yet be over for Ramsey’s talents. He is scheduled to visit USC on Jan. 18, according to his Rivals page. Ramsey also visited Florida State on Jan. 11, but hasn’t officially been to Florida since September. This may be one of those decisions that isn’t really known until the pen hits the paper and the fax is sent.
